A&B’s legacy is one of fully integrated agribusiness operations. Today, we cultivate sugar on the island of Maui, and additionally own a number of related service companies to support our sugar operation.
Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company (HC&S) cultivates sugarcane on 36,000 acres in Central Maui, producing raw and specialty sugars and molasses, using state-of-the-art agronomic practices which make our fields among the highest yielding in the world. HC&S’ premium specialty sugar products are marketed worldwide under the Maui Brand name. In addition to its extensive sugar production, HC&S is a significant energy producer, providing all of its own needs as well as 5% of the power provided by the local utility to the Maui community. Much of the power that HC&S generates is from renewable sources–hydropower and the burning of bagasse, the cane stalk fiber that remains after the sugar is extracted.
Maui Brand Natural Cane Sugars are produced by HC&S and are the product of over 130 years of experience, technology and craftsmanship. Handmade one batch at a time, Maui Brand sugars comes in two styles: Natural White and Premium Maui Gold. Maui Brand products can be purchased through our mail-order business.
