TAX SUPERVISOR (Job #22-2016)

The Tax Department is seeking an experienced tax supervisor to fill a Tax Supervisor position in our Honolulu office. Reporting to the Tax Manager, incumbent will assist with the preparation of Federal, State and city compliance including: federal, state and city income and franchise tax returns; state sales and use or G.E.T. returns; required informational reporting; and extensions and estimated payments. Will assist with the review and maintenance of the fixed asset systems to ensure the tax basis is updated on a timely basis and the proper tax lives and methods are applied to the various fixed assets. Will also assist with the preparation of tax reporting as required by GAAP accounting standards and SEC reporting requirement including: running the quarterly and annual tax provision model; maintaining the deferred tax inventories, book/tax differences, unrecognized tax position (FIN 48) reserves, and supporting documentation; performing account analysis, reconciliations, tax account roll-forward schedules; and preparing journal entries

This position requires a minimum of 5 years combined public accounting and/or corporate tax department experience including federal and state tax compliance and ASC 740 (FAS 109) tax reporting and familiarity with SOX controls and processes. The ability to research tax issues and thoroughly document tax analysis and conclusions in writing is also required. The ideal candidate will also possess strong interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task, work independently and remain flexible in a demanding work environment. A master’s degree in tax and /or a CPA is preferred. The person in the position will not be supervising any employees.

FIXED ASSET ACCOUNTANT (Job #17-2016)

We are seeking a talented tax professional to fill a newly created fixed asset accountant position. Incumbent will be responsible for managing the financial records (book and tax bases) for fixed assets across the Company. The position is responsible for recording the cost of newly-acquired fixed assets (both tangible and intangible), tracking existing fixed assets and construction in progress, monitoring and properly accounting for assets placed in service, recording depreciation and impairments (as applicable), accounting for the disposition of fixed assets, and the accounting for asset retirement obligations. The individual also records complex accounting transactions, including preparing and posting journal entries, primarily focused on fixed asset accounting. The position is responsible for preparing schedules for management and regulatory reporting, such as disclosures in the 10-Q and 10-K and the Company’s tax return filings. The position also prepares monthly analyses of fixed asset related accounts, including variance reports and fixed asset reconciliations and rollforwards. The individual supports internal and external audit requirements.

Must have excellent critical thinking, problem solving and prioritization skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across the organization and execute multiple tasks, while adhering to strict deadlines. Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA or CPA-candidate a plus; 3-5 years of experience working with fixed assets (book and tax basis); knowledge of tax rules applicable to fixed assets. Demonstrate strong computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, etc.) with experience in Oracle JDE Enterprise One fixed assets and/or FAS experience highly desirable.

TAX SENIOR (Job #06-2016)

We are seeking a talented tax professional to fill a Tax Senior position in our Honolulu office. Reporting to the Tax Manager, incumbent will assist with the preparation and maintenance of the Company’s accounting for income taxes and tax compliance, as well as assist with basic research, planning and maintain tax support files while simultaneously supporting and partnering with the business units on various projects.

The position requires a minimum of 3 years combined public accounting and/or corporate tax department experience including federal and state tax compliance and ASC 740 (FAS 109) tax reporting and be familiar with SOX controls and processes. The ability to research tax issues and thoroughly document tax analysis and conclusions in writing is also required. A master’s degree in tax and/or a CPA is preferred.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK III (Job #28-2016)

Responsible for computer operations, producing weekly check disbursement and reports related to accounts payable.  Maintains detailed schedule and reconciliation of assigned accrued accounts.  Records, maintains and reconciles Portfolio real property taxes including making monthly payments. S/he should possess basic accounting skill and knowledge which includes relationship of balance sheet and income statement accounts.  This position requires a working understanding of computer-based accounting systems and spreadsheet application, and the ability to work with disciplined work habits.

The incumbent will operate a computer for the following: all check disbursements, check registers, check reconciliation reports, vendor reports, year-end reports for Form 1099 data, and updating of vendor identification file.  Will research invoice records for confirmation of payments, vendor balances and other specialized information as required.

Operates computer for the following: Maintains subsidiary record files and folders. Maintains accounts payable system and assists the fee managers and property managers with any issues related to the accounts payable system. Responsible for the reconciliation of accounts payable and subsidiary records to the general ledger for assigned accounts.  Maintains schedule for other accrued accounts to the general ledger. Verifies the coding from fee managers and property managers to ensure proper recording of charges.
