VICE PRESIDENT, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 

Alexander & Baldwin is seeking a vice president of information technology. Reporting to the CFO, incumbent will be responsible for the management and delivery of all technology services to the organization. This position must actively engage with senior leadership and lead the company’s strategic vision and goals to improve company operations through successful deployment of technology. The VP of IT is ultimately responsible for internal staff, managed service providers, consultants and vendors who support the company’s critical business functions.

Requirements:

• 15+ years of experience in the IT industry with 3+ years experience leading an IT organization and 3rd party service providers across multiple geographies
• Experience leading organizations with a vendor managed IaaS-based IT delivery model
• Experience developing and executing mid and longer-term IT strategies
• Must be able to communicate technology issues to a non-technical audience
• Experience working with mid-size organizations
• Previous real estate, construction or related industry experience
• BS degree in Computer Science or Finance or Technology or equivalent experience

TAX SENIOR 

We are seeking a talented tax professional to fill a Tax Senior position in our Honolulu office. Reporting to the Tax Manager, incumbent will assist with the preparation and maintenance of the Company’s accounting for income taxes and tax compliance, as well as assist with basic research, planning and maintain tax support files while simultaneously supporting and partnering with the business units on various projects.

The position requires a minimum of 3 years combined public accounting and/or corporate tax department experience including federal and state tax compliance and ASC 740 (FAS 109) tax reporting and be familiar with SOX controls and processes. The ability to research tax issues and thoroughly document tax analysis and conclusions in writing is also required. A master’s degree in tax and/or a CPA is preferred.

TAX PARAPROFESSIONAL 

Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. is searching for a Tax/Accounting Paraprofessional to join the Tax Department working at our historic building at 822 Bishop Street in downtown Honolulu. We are transforming the Tax Department into an environment of best practices. The responsibilities include preparing filings for GET, excise taxes, use taxes etc.; responding to notices from taxing jurisdictions; helping prepare for tax audits; managing the tax calendar; assisting with the coordination, compilation and preparation of various federal and state tax and informational filings; and working with various departments in the company to both share and collect key information.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience in an accounting firm, accounting department, or law firm, and a minimum of an Associate’s degree. We are looking for a curious individual who has a strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and is proficient with all Microsoft Office software.

Senior Manager – Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting 

Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. is seeking a senior manager, financial reporting & technical accounting. Incumbent will report directly to the Company’s corporate controller and will lead Alexander & Baldwin, Inc.’s financial reporting function. The Financial Reporting function is responsible for the following:
• The Company’s periodic filings with the SEC (Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, registration statements, XBRL tagging, etc.);
• The collection, consolidation, and reporting of financial information for Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. and its divisions, subsidiaries and corporate departments;
• Providing timely, accurate and meaningful financial reports to management and the Board of Directors;
• Research and implement complex accounting guidance and disclosures;
• Assists with ensuring highest standards of internal and disclosure controls.

The position requires bachelor’s degree in accounting and 10+ years of accounting experience, Big 4 public accounting experience is preferred, and CPA with SEC reporting experience and a strong knowledge of financial statement preparation and generally accepted accounting principles.

Accounting Manager, Properties

Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. is seeking a accounting manager, properties. This position is responsible for maintaining, reviewing and reconciling accounting records, recording and reviewing the accounting & financial reporting primarily related to the Company’s real estate operations, including ensuring accuracy and compliance to accounting policies and procedures. The position is responsible for the organization and preparation of audit work papers and budgeting/forecasting information for financial purposes. The position is also responsible for the organization of reports, analyses, and reconciliations for joint ventures and enforcing internal controls. The position is required to continually review, refine and/or improve as appropriate, the accounting records, reports and budgets/plans.

The position requires a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, finance, taxation and real estate. An undergraduate degree in accounting or equivalent is a prerequisite. A CPA certificate is required, and Big 4/public accounting experience or a combination of public/industry experience is strongly preferred. Minimum of 4+ years of progressive experience in an accounting role.

Executive Secretary, Corporate Legal Department

Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. is seeking a corporate secretary. This position provides legal secretarial services and related administrative duties for the Associates General Counsel and Leasing Paralegal. Secretarial duties include answering telephones, receiving visitors, scheduling meetings and conference calls with Microsoft Outlook, supplying requested information, determining proper mail distribution, preparing expense records, maintaining records for legal invoices and budgets, locating and obtaining information from various sources within and outside the Company, and performing other related secretarial activities. Maintains confidential Law Department files. Administrative tasks include HSBA registrations and renewals, work travel arrangements and seminar registrations. Duties supporting the paralegal include revising, finalizing, and distributing legal documents, routing and processing documents for signatures by the appropriate officers of the Company and its subsidiaries and affiliates. Must possess proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat DC (writer) and PowerPoint, Workshare Compare or similar document comparison program, laser printer, color copying/facsimile machine, telephone, familiarity with Box file storage and sharing system and confidential Law Department files, general comfort with learning new software programs. Must have a minimum of two (2) years legal secretary experience.

Leasing Paralegal

The A&B Legal Department is seeking a paralegal to support activities for its commercial leasing portfolio. Duties include preparing and editing leases, contracts, amendments, consents, and other ancillary documents relating to the commercial leasing portfolio, using independent initiative, judgment, knowledge and ability, with direction from superiors and supervising the legal secretary on clerical work to support the paralegal functions. The paralegal handles basic communications with tenants, property managers, brokers, and other third parties relating to leases and related documents, solicits required additional information, and performs simple negotiations in consultation with superiors. The paralegal must be a problem solver, possessing initiative, good judgment, and ability to maintain highly confidential information relating to the nature of a publicly traded corporation. Must have a minimum of three (3) years in real estate paralegal-type work. Experience recording documents at the State of Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances, and working with the title and escrow companies on reviewing and revising title reports and coordinating closing documents desirable but not required. Property Management Accountant

A&B is seeking a property management accountant. This position is responsible for preparing journal entries, maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts and reports, preparing variance analyses for A&B Properties, assisting with research projects and ensuring accuracy and compliance to accounting policies and procedures. The position is responsible for the organization and preparation of audit work papers and budgeting/forecasting information for financial purposes and enforcing internal controls. The incumbent in this position is required to interact frequently with all levels of Properties management and the tax department. This position requires a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and real estate. The incumbent must also possess good written and oral communication skills. An undergraduate degree in accounting or equivalent is a prerequisite. A CPA certificate and/or graduate business degree is desirable as is JD Edwards EnterpriseOne (E1) software experience.

The incumbent is required to continually review, refine and/or improve as appropriate, the accounting records, reports and budgets/plans.
